How to design a Banking product for a visually impaired person?
Approach towards solving this problem as a PM
During Covid times it has become difficult for all of us to visit the bank and carry out our transactions and get any updates associated with our bank. A vast percentage of the population in the Tier 1 and Tier 2 city is somehow more comfortable in visiting the bank and carry out transactions than use a bank site or mobile app for the same. Similarly there is a certain section like the visually impaired who face lot of challenges during these times when they need to carry out simple transactions, checking balance etc. They end up becoming dependent on a person on whom they need to have 100% trust or are forced to trust given they do not have any other choice.
So to make their life easier and help them be self dependent in managing their finances, I am trying to solve their problem.
COHORT:
People who cannot see completely, partially or fully impaired.
PROBLEM:
I talked to select users from this cohort. And after those conversations, I realized the following are the basic problems being faced by users belonging to this cohort :-
- Difficulty in carrying out transactions
- Issue in checking balance
- Be able to perform all activities like loan, investment etc. in banking
- Ensuring security
- Checking transactions or their account statements
I am accessing the simplified problems against some factors that are critical to choose the problem to be solved if someone acts as the Product Manager of a mobile banking app:-
Hence choosing the problem that we are going to solve is “Send money/ Carry out Transaction”
SOLUTION:
Below I am accessing each of my solution against the factors on which I can rate each of my solution and come to a conclusion as to which one could be taken ahead:-
Hence we choose this solution to include voice service which will help understand audio commands to carry out transactions and authenticate them via fingerprints.
